Cruz de Piedra Winery was born more than three decades under the name ” Bodega San Telmo ” in Maipu , Mendoza , when Sigifredo Alonso began to realize his dream of making wine 100 % varietal . Sigifredo brought winds of change from the Napa Valley . California with the conviction that the future was in these wines , something unthinkable in Argentina’s wine industry in the early seventies.
